Graduated from University of St Andrews. Second degree obtained in Epidemiology and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Worked for international charities specialising in WASH programmes and control and elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases programmes. Joined the Slovak MoH in August 2020. Co-author of COVID Automat and sole author of the Travel Semafor (set of COVID-19 related rules and restrictions for cross-border travel)

Andreas Schuster

Andreas is a veteran in Hospitality, graduating from Hotel school in Bad Gleichenberg, Austria in 1986. Throughout his 35 years of professional career he gained experience working on 3 continents in 14 countries – Austria, Switzerland, China, Hungary, Bermuda, Portugal just to name few. From 2006 – 2011 Andreas served as Board of Director member in SLKP, while he was Vice-President of Operation of Danubius Hotel Group, Budapest. In May 2019 he re-joint SLKP in the role of Cluster General Manager for Slovakia, in charge all Ensana Hotels & health spas in Piestany and Smrdaky.

As a Canadian, with living experience in 7 countries around the world, Daren’s current commitment is to support better health and wellbeing for the people of Slovakia. He is the General Manager for Roche Slovensko and 3rd Vice President of AMCham Slovakia

Kuuno Vaher

Cluster Country Director, Central Europe AstraZeneca

Kuuno Vaher, Cluster Country Director, Central Europe, which includes Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Kuuno’s main mission is to secure all healthcare (HC) experts (patient organization groups, doctor associations, political decision makers, health insurance, hospital leaders, universities, medicines developers and other parties) are working in close collaboration securing continuously improved outcomes for patients.
He is especially focused on how we can be faster implementing new medical guidelines in real clinical practice and how we can improve and optimize patient pathways in HC using HC digitalization and data.
As an experienced leader of medicine developer Kuuno is doing all possible to build up x-functional teams to lead and drive innovation in all countries together with all HC partners.
Kuuno joined AstraZeneca in 2007 and has 20 years of experience in the industry with proven results in leading market access and business units in various therapeutic areas in Estonia, Baltics, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, and also as a member of the leadership teams in Nordics and CEE region. Kuuno holds a Pharmacy Degree from Tartu University in Estonia. Kuuno is based in Prague.
His mission outside of work is to keep family, friends and colleagues in a good spirit and fit enjoying together numerous outdoor sports activities.

Martin Smatana

Associate Fellow, Health, Economic Growth and Sustainability Programme

Martin studied at Oxford and Imperial College in London, where he graduated in health management. He worked in England as an analyst for NHS. He inspected hospitals in the Central Bohemian Region for more than a year. From 2016 to 2020, he headed the Institute of Health Policy. In addition, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of VšZP and the chairman of the categorization commission of specialized medical material at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. Martin also cooperates with the Association for the Protection of Patients’ Rights and is an advisor to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family. Martin is the author of several publications and is a member of the European Commission’s social protection committee.
