JAGUAR LAND ROVER CELEBRATION |
October 25th will remain in our memory for a long time - our patron, Jaguar Land Rover from Nitra, celebrated its fifth anniversary. We are proud that the British Chamber of Commerce, together with the management of the plant, its workers, suppliers, stakeholders, and the local community, belongs to the big "Nitrian family". When we inaugurated this plant together with JLR representatives five years ago, we had no idea that in five years JLR would be able to produce more than 365,000 of the legendary Defender and Discovery cars, and the number of employees would grow from 1,500 to more than 5,000. During an exceptional day at Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra, we had the opportunity to meet the entire management team of this successful company, we thank Mrs. Barbara Bergmeier, Executive Director Industrial Operation, Guillermo Mancholas, JLR Slovakia Executive Director, Richard Bright, Senior Plant Quality Manager for the great welcome. A special moment was the speech of Mrs. Barbara Bergmeir, who announced the fantastic news that Nitra will be the place where electric cars will be produced by the end of the decade as part of the Reimagine strategy. |

Unforgettable experience was the tour of the plant, which we had the opportunity to complete with J.E. Apoorva Srivastava, Ambassador of India and H.E. Nigel Baker, UK ambassador and our honorary president. We saw the production lines from which the legends Defender and Discovery descend. As the largest British investment, Jaguar Land Rover has our great admiration for how it positively affects employment and the economy of Slovakia as a whole. Jaguar Land Rover is one of the leaders and places great emphasis on the social pillar of its business. It provides its more than 5,000 employees possibility for the further development, supports their education, contributes to the development of vocational schools in the region, supports local communities, and creates favorable conditions for the integration of its employees from abroad. On the occasion of five years since the opening of the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Nitra, the new Health and Well-Being Center was also inaugurated, which is to serve its 5,000 employees, as well as more than 2,000 other employees of suppliers working at the plant. |

CONFERENCE PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT |
We accepted the invitation of the IPA company and on October 17th we were among more than 140 production managers and directors at the Production Management conference. It featured many inspiring lectures focused on trends useful for manufacturing companies, including digital transformation and long-term sustainability. Naturally, people are also a part of it, the lack of employees is an issue in most sectors of the national economy. Miroslava Remenárová, Chairwoman of the board of the British Chamber of Commerce, focused on this topic. She shared the experiences and steps initiated by entrepreneurs and the government in the UK and presented proposals for opportunities in the Slovak Republic, including employees from third countries or increasing the attention of companies to upskilling and, of course, using the opportunities provided by the diversity of teams. It confirmed the continuation of our chamber's focus on industry and its importance for Slovakia's economy. Our chamber's view of increasing employee engagement and investing in their education was also supported by a renowned expert in the field of human resources, Mr. Jaroslav Holeček, who shared his many years of experience at VW in his contribution. Thanks to IPA for the invitation! |

For the 11th time, on October 19, women who are interested in career inspiration or developing their skills met in Bratislava's Penati Club. Of course, our chamber could not miss them, as part of our latest initiative WOMEN FOR THE FUTURE.
The event was moderated by the popular Vera Wisterová, who interviewed successful women from business, art and the media during the panel discussion. Workshops and lectures were part of this great day. Our colleague Tatiana Kačmarova opened an interesting topic "How to set yourself up for success!" and what success actually means in the life of each of the ladies present. Fashion expert Richard Rozbora brought useful tips on how to put together a functional business wardrobe. We thank all the participants (and participants) for the positive attitude that created a wonderful atmosphere. We are looking forward to the next year! |
