Our colleagues are pivotal to the success of JLR, that’s why we are proud to invest over £15m per year in colleague wellbeing globally.     As we kick off #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, we’re thrilled to share that part of that investment is in a newly launched initiative at our UK sites to train 500 Mental Health First Aiders this year, which we also plan to roll out globally across JLR from next year. By introducing MHFAs across the business, we want to demonstrate the importance of talking about mental health in the workplace by changing attitudes and reducing stigma.      Paul Tanner, JLR’s People Business Excellence Manager and one of the first to become a Mental Health First Aider last month told us why he’s become one, “Mental health matters - we all have a duty of care to care. Each one of us wants to make a positive difference through having open, honest conversations at work and creating safe and supportive spaces to talk."      JLR has seven Wellbeing Centres located in the UK and Slovakia to support employee needs on all aspects of preventative, rehabilitative wellbeing and awareness. JLR is proud to receive the grant of a warrant from His Majesty King Charles III as part of his first announcement of grantees. For nearly 900 years the Royal Warrant has been one of the proudest acknowledgements of quality in the world. It is granted to represent not only simple excellence of product or service, but also the acceptance of the Royal grantors. We look forward to our continued support for the Royal Household and celebrate the extension of our awards which started in 1951 when Land Rover was appointed the Royal Warrant by King George VI.  The endorsement of our vehicles by the Royal Family is appreciated by the more-than 120 markets we currently operate in over the world.

This week we have marked #DeafAwarenessWeek here at JLR by learning how to be better allies to hearing-impaired colleagues in the workplace.    Some of our employees who are hearing-impaired got together to help us learn more about what good allyship for deaf colleagues looks like.    It was great to see our teams take positive action and commit to making changes such as learning sign language or ensuring there are no overlapping conversations during remote meetings to improve inclusivity for hearing-impaired colleagues.    #JLR #DEI #Inclusion

Recently, 捷豹路虎中国 Jaguar Land Rover China hosted an exceptional Employer Branding and Assessment Day. Reimagining the interview process and delivering an unforgettable experience for candidates.   Speakers included David Ross, JLR China Digital Product Platform Chief Engineer, olivia zhao, JLR China Human Resources Executive Vice President, and Liu Shu, Head of JLR China Talent Acquisition. At the event, the speakers shared their inspiring stories, whilst offering valuable career advice to the candidates. In addition, the event provided candidates with a digital office tour and encouraged meaningful conversations aimed at providing career guidance.    There was an exclusive opportunity for candidates to immerse themselves in the world of JLR. Having the chance to get behind the wheel of our cars and experience the brand first-hand. Technical Chapter Lead Lucy was one of the engineers responsible for the new Defender. Lucy started her career at JLR back in 2015 with a role on the Undergraduate program. Since then Lucy has worked on the Defender 90 and 110 testing the floor with high heels and even checking the boot for suitable handbag storage, Lucy and the team ensured that the Defender would appeal to male and female buyers. In her blog, Lucy talks about the progression there has been around diversity within engineering since her time at JLR. 'JLR is really progressive and values diversity'. We are continuing our Women Behind Defender series with Michelle, a former Racing Driver from Michigan, USA. Growing up in the car industry, building her own race car – a ’69 Camaro drag racer, this led to her career in the automotive industry. In 2003, Michelle moved to the UK and started her journey here at JLR. Michelle was involved on working on the vehicle dynamics for the new Defender. Michelle made it her mission to ensure the steering weight on the new Defender wasn’t too heavy to appeal to both men and women. When we set out to create Defender, we set out to create a vehicle that would stand the test of time. It was a challenge for the team to balance low-speed agility, comfort and off-road ability. Michelle said “We have been delighted by the reaction and its success. Today, we wrapped up our month-long #Vaisakhi celebrations with a final tour of our Vaisakhi themed Defender.     Over the last few weeks, the Defender toured our UK manufacturing plants educating employees on the religious festival of Vaisakhi which featured at Nagar Kirtan processions across the Midlands.
