Dear Reader,
Welcome to our August newsletter!
Summer has come to an end but I hope that you had an opportunity to take a well-deserved holiday where you could relax and recharge. My family is already adjusting to the "going-back to school routine" as my children started school last Thursday.
Britcham received press coverage in the August issue of the Slovak Spectator. There was a special supplement on the British community in Slovakia and our Chamber was featured along with the British Ambassador Nigel Baker and the British Council.
We have been preparing some great events for September where we hope to meet many of you in person. We have events co-organised with the ChamCham community (Chamber of Chambers) Back to Business, Golftrophy and Speed Business Meeting, giving you great opportunities to network with members of the other Chambers.
You can find more information about the events below and make sure you register!
We are also planning another event on "The leading role of sustainable buildings and green energy in Slovakia's economic recovery". We will be sharing more details about the event with you soon.
In two months the UK will host the
COP26 - UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow from 31 Oct - 12 November, uniting the world to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. It has been announced that Her Majesty the Queen will also attend the conference. At the summit, delegates including heads of state, climate experts and negotiators will come together to agree coordinated action to tackle climate change. The British Chamber Global Network is planning to have a Climate Hub for delegations during the conference, please contact us if you would like to find out more information about how you can participate. But there are things all of us can do to combat climate change and limitless opportunities to grow our businesses by joining the Green Revolution.
The British Chambers of Commerce in the UK also plans to participate at the World Chambers Congress in Dubai in November. (There is also the opportunity to visit
Expo as well as other potential interesting events.) The Congress will be delivered as a hybrid event – with both on the ground presence and online via a new dedicated virtual platform which will be unveiled shortly. This therefore lends scope to widen participation from across the world, and we would be pleased to have a strong physical as well as virtual British contingency from across our entire network – UK and international. With that in mind, please find
a link to the event website for you to consider the programme. Let us know if you are interested in attending.
This autumn promises a great selection of events and I look forward to seeing you there!
Take care and kind regards,
Hajni
