Dear Reader,

BOARD NEWS
GET READY! - 2023 ACTIVITIES OUTLOOK

Dear BritCham members,

the Board of Directors of our Chamber approved the activities for the year 2023 at the January Board meeting. This year will be special for us because our Chamber is going to celebrate its 25th anniversary in June. Such a milestone! It is unique to us. The celebration will be a combination of business topics and networking.

A novelty for CEOs will be the LEADERS2LEADERS event, an exclusive platform for a joint meeting of the highest representatives of our member companies, even with the participation of an interesting guest. In addition, it will be accompanied by the handing over of annual membership certificates.

We will present a regular People Forum, a space for discussion on one of the topics that resonated the most last year - and that is people, leaders and experts, those from manufacturing and non-manufacturing companies - how to acquire, maintain and develop them.

I believe that we will also see you at the first event of its kind that we support and which was patronized by H.E. Nigel Baker, the British Ambassador, at the CSR conference Corporate volunteering, what next?

There will also be the popular British Breakfast format on current topics. Some of the months will be in the spirit of supporting diversity (we will start in March), and others will be tuned to the topic of well-being, including the protection of health and safety at work (April), we will also continue to support successful partnerships (Compliance Days in May, or the Newmatec international conference in April ) and we will not leave out topics such as sustainability and ESG.

You can continue to use the benefits of Member2Member, i.e. member provides the member with discounted offers of services or products.

Traditional popular events such as Golftrophy, Business Ladies Day, and Speed Business Meetings are also ahead of us.

And what if we went out together on bicycles, horse polo, the 100th Košice Marathon, or rugby? Yes, we are already working on that too, depending on how such activities appeal to you. 😊

Not long ago, I met with representatives of the Business Center of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the General Director and his team from SARIO. We are already working together to be able to connect you, our members, with new investors who would like to visit Slovakia. We have also already agreed with our parent headquarters, the British Chamber of Commerce, to prepare presentation material about Slovakia and the possibilities of cooperation with you, our members, and present it to regional chambers in selected parts of the United Kingdom online, while the possibility of personal meetings in the UK is also open.

This is just the first taste of the upcoming events we are currently working on. We will certainly not stay only in Bratislava, after Nitra (in March) Košice will follow!

The Chamber is what we will create together - I believe that we can develop it together with ideas, and involvement, and it will also be a great help . Thanks to you, your membership and every form of support, we can be successful!

On behalf of the BritCham Board of Directors

Miroslava Remenárová
the Chairwoman of the Board

Even before we invite you to the conference, let us ask you one question: How much do you invest in recruiting the right employees? It will certainly take a lot of energy and resources. The support of engagement plays an even greater role. We invite you to an event in which we participate for the first time.

On March 16, 2023, experts on corporate volunteering will meet in Nitra. Volunteering has great potential in supporting employee engagement not only in community events but also in the companies themselves.

The patronage of the event was taken over by H.E. Nigel Baker, the British Ambassador to Slovakia and our Honorary President, as well as Branislav Becík, the Chairman of the Nitra self-governing region and Marek Hattas, the Mayor of Nitra.

Join us or involve your leaders and experts from HR, marketing, or other departments. Experts from non-governmental organizations will share their valuable experience in the role of speakers, as well as representatives of BritCham members - strategic partner of the event and our Patron Member Jaguar Land Rover Slovakia (Igor Franček, HR Director), partner of the event and our Patron Member TESCO STORES SR (Katarína Pšenáková, Communications and Campaigns Manager) and Robert Trgiňa, CEO of ASO VENDING. We thank them for their energy, time, and support of this unique event.

We are thinking of you!
If you would like to share your experiences with corporate volunteering, we have one open speaker spot in the panel discussion. Let us know by February 21 at , please.

On January 31, 2023, this year's first Speed Business Meeting took place, a popular networking event of ChamCham, an informal association of chambers of commerce in Slovakia.

This time, we were again among the chambers whose members and sympathizers showed the greatest interest in establishing new contacts. The room was filled.

For about two hours, the room with tables arranged in a circle for the participants turns into a lively place full of conversations. Each 1:1 meeting lasts 10 minutes for participants to find out if their businesses overlap and if there is room for new business opportunities.

We look forward to the next meeting. We will inform you about the date in time.
