Dear Reader,
It's been another busy month working closely with members to promote their agendas and raise their profiles. With the UK hosting COP26 in just a few days, our main aim has been to help our members seize the opportunities of a green recovery.
Our Chamber supported the Business Ladies Day (in cooperation with ChamCham), CEE Automotive Supply Chain 2021, Overview of Slovak HR and Payroll for non Slovak speakers (in cooperation with Crowe Slovakia) and ITMA Industry Summit (in cooperation with Deutsche Telecom). And we organised two flagship events focussing on healthcare, sustainable buildings and green energy.

How can Slovakia build a resilient healthcare system during a global pandemic?
Through an approach that focuses on the patient; shares clear and factual information to the public; encourages collaboration between the public and private sectors; and builds back better in a more sustainable way. And to beat Covid you need to get vaccinated!

27 October, SPP:
The leading role of sustainable buildings and green energy
I was particularly struck by three things at our event in cooperation with leading gas supplier SPP:
First: that we have inspiring businesspeople and companies in the UK and Slovakia who are pioneering low carbon methods that make significant savings, meet customer expectations and mitigate climate change.
Secondly: that if these companies are to achieve their full potential and help Slovakia meet its net zero carbon targets, they urgently need the support of government and parliament to put in place the right legislation.
And thirdly: sustainability is not only the right thing to do; it makes good business sense too.

International Trade Survey 2021
In the run up to COP26 our Chamber can take part in the BCC UK International Trade Survey.
Based on the outcome of this survey we can create a joint statement that defines the needs of the local business community towards the local government and the British government in order to achieve their Climate Challenge/Net Zero targets and it can be presented to both the local national government representative(s) and The British Ambassador Nigel Baker.
The International Chambers are asked to send its two most important policy asks of the UK government so that they can mention these policy needs in the BCC UK joint statement.
