Sheffield - the Steel City remade Case study for Košice - 22 October 2019

There are natural parallels that can be drawn between Košice and Sheffield and within the context of the Smart

City initiative that is headlining across Slovakia and much of Europe, the Sheffield case study can provide

interesting and important lessons and guidance for any city in today's world who is striving to understand its future

role and needs.

The Conference will bring together in one room leading representatives from major employers, universities, district

government and municipality of Košice, as well as representatives from Sheffield City Council, to present the key

factors in the transformation of Sheffield. You will also hear about the recent progress in Košice and future planned

projects, as well as the vision for the whole region.

The conference will include:

• Presentations by Sheffield County Council
• Key trends in the redesigning of cities around the world
• The vision and projects underway in Kosice
• Sessions on talent and education – twin pillars necessary for
• successful urban development

Through exceptional panel discussions and engrossing presentations we will uncover the journey of

Sheffield's revitalisation and regeneration which made it the vibrant metropole it is today. You will also

gain new insights from those at the forefront of the future vision for the Košice region, whilst hearing

about challenges faced by the region's businesses and how these could be tackled.
