- COVID-19:
Mobility of people after corona crisis will be different than before the outbreak of the pandemic. People will abandon public transport and may be willing to spend more money on safer transport.
- Regional change:
Car production is expected to continue to decline in Western Europe. 76% of leaders in the automotive sector agree that by 2030, less than 5% of global car production will be in Western Europe.
- Automotive trends:
For the first time in the history of our KPMG survey, automotive industry leaders think that by 2030, the largest share of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines will not be.
- E-mobility:
Leaders continue to see BMW as a leading leader in e-mobility. However, this is questioned by Tesla, which has strengthened its position this year.
- Industrial policy:
83% of leaders agree that regulators and industrial policy are the driving force behind technology programs.
- Retail of the future:
More than 80% of respondents believe that the role of retail outlets needs to be changed. In the near future, therefore, a dramatic reduction in the number of physical retail outlets by 20 to 30%, resp. their transformation. The coronary crisis may accelerate this trend.
